Operation Rubicon: How the CIA and BND Spied on the World
Operation Rubicon was a joint covert operation carried out by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the West German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) during the Cold War. The operation involved the acquisition and operation of a Swiss company called Crypto AG, which was a leading manufacturer of encryption machines used by governments, militaries, and intelligence agencies around the world.
Under Operation Rubicon, the CIA and BND secretly purchased Crypto AG and then modified the encryption machines to allow the intelligence agencies to eavesdrop on the communications of foreign governments and intelligence services that used the machines. The operation reportedly began in the 1950s and continued until the early 2000s.

The Russo-Ukrainian War has led the European Market to seek energy security providers elsewhere, particularly in North Africa, to halt energy dependency on Russia. The EU mainly approached Algeria and is planning to receive mostly this country`s gas, through Italy as an intermediary. Algeria aims to maximize its energy exports and diversify its energy sources and economy beyond hydrocarbon output.
Likewise, neighbouring Morocco, is implementing an ambitious investment plan toward developing renewable energy. The country`s main focus is set on Green Hydrogen development. The recent resurge of tensions between the two countries over the question of Western Sahara’s self-determination may hamper energy development, especially for Morocco.

Wagner PMC Activity in the Central African Republic: A Geospatial Analysis (Link in bio)
The Russian mercenary group PMC Wagner gradually expanded its influence in Africa as the result of years of ingratiation with governments and local governance networks. The purpose of Wagner’s presence in Africa is widely accepted to be related to the objectives of the Russian government and the desire to chip away at Western geopolitical influence on the continent.
This report will focus on the physical and detectable presence of Wagner in the Central African Republic. By analyzing the infrastructure and present locations of the group, an assessment of the group`s capabilities in Africa will be made in the context of regional security and the fight against extremism.
More specifically, this report will examine the impact of the War in Ukraine on Wagner’s ability to operate in CAR. Given the prevalent conditions in Ukraine and the observed data gathered from geospatial imagery, we conclude that Wagner operations in CAR have contracted due to the war in Ukraine.
Key Judgment 1: There is a realistic probability that Wagner will retain the ability to conduct sophisticated operations in the Central African Republic in the next 12 months.
Key Judgment 2: It is likely that Wagner PMC operations in the Central African Republic will heavily rely on rotor-wing capabilities and light fixed-wing aircraft in the next 12 months.
Key Judgment 3: It is highly likely that Wagner will continue to diversify its income revenues in CAR over the next 12 months.
