Hotel Wehliye Attack

Hotel Wehliye Attack

Hotel Wehliye Attack: On 22 March 2018, 16:35 hours local time, Maka-Al Mukarama Road, opposite of Hotel Wehliye, Howlwadaag District, #Mogadishu #VBIED Explosion:

A small vehicle loaded with explosives parked across the street from Hotel Wehliye, Howlwadaag District was detonated, using a remote trigger. The Hotel Wehliye attack killed 17 people and wounded more than 20. Most victims were bystanders and it caused extensive damage to the surrounding buildings.

It is highly likely that a number of pedestrians and street vendors killed or injured was exacerbated by flying debris caused by the explosion.

According to sources, the attack has not yet been claimed. However, the government assesses that Al Shabab is almost certainly behind it.
