US-Cyprus Relations: A Forecast on a Growing Friendship

In recent years, US-Cyprus relations have been influenced by geopolitical developments in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. In addition, the discovery of offshore natural gas reserves has heightened regional tensions. Because of this, the US has expressed interest in strengthening stability and collaboration in the region. While supporting Cyprus’ sovereignty and condemning Turkish maritime activities, the US has also encouraged communication among the parties involved.

Furthermore, military cooperation, which has been on the rise in recent years, continues through joint exercises and logistical arrangements. In short, the Cyprus division and energy disputes continue to be key in the US-Cyprus relationship, aligning with broader US interests for regional stability and peaceful conflict resolution.
