Pakistan’s political and security situation has deteriorated in the last 3 years. Chaos and violence will likely intensify in the near term. The country struggles with a fragile economy on the brink of collapse (source), political infighting between the major parties and the key political figures, and the overbearing influence of the army on national politics. Furthermore, the US withdrawal from Afghanistan has left a geopolitical void which has opened the way for China and the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) (source).
