China-Kenya Relations: Friend or Foe?

China-Kenya relations can best be described as “complicated.” It encompasses a mixture of economic partnership, cooperation, and challenges. China is playing a significant role in supporting infrastructure projects and trade in Kenya. These investments have contributed to its overall economic growth. However, there are concerns over debt sustainability and transparency. Chinese officials deny accusations of debt-trap diplomacy in Africa. Still, Kenya finds itself in a difficult situation with a looming debt crisis and the possibility of defaulting.
