Executive Summary
Drones spotted around US Navy and Air Force bases in North America, UK, and also Germany (2023-2024), were possibly seeking sensitive data. New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Virginia have experienced these mysterious ‘drone’ sightings. Drone sightings over airports have caused closures for safety reasons. This sparked concern, yielding three main suspected theories: Russia, China, and also Iran. The Pentagon stated that it is unlikely that Iran orchestrated the drone activity.
In the majority of reported sightings, actual drone involvement has not been verified. Furthermore, some drone sightings involve devices larger than those used by hobbyists. The White House claims that some of the drones are manned aircraft after reviewing collected imagery. Homeland Security has also attributed the increased sightings partly to relaxed FAA drone night flight rules.
