Executive Summary
The Kingdom of Denmark will likely continue to increase Arctic defence spending, while building cooperation on Arctic issues with allies, over the course of 2026. In 2025, Denmark focused its investments on strengthening military capabilities, and we expect this trajectory to continue, shifting towards establishing a sustained Arctic military presence. Denmark will also likely increase cooperation with Greenland, given the island’s strategic importance to Copenhagen, Washington’s continued interest in the territory, and regional threats.
