China and Egypt: A Flourishing Relationship?

China’s role in supporting Egypt’s faltering economy, the relationships in the MENA region, and as well as Egypt’s counterterrorism efforts, will highly likely encourage China and Egypt’s relationship to prosper for the rest of 2023.

Considering  Egypt was the first African and also Arab country to have diplomatic ties with the People’s Republic of China in 1956, seeing this relationship progress into something more prosperous, is historically significant (source).

Key Judgment 1. In helping to stabilize Egypt’s faltering economy, it is highly likely that China and Egypt will have a growing relationship in 2023. 

Key Judgment 2. China’s role in establishing opportunities to maintain peace in the MENA region will likely encourage China and Egypt to have a prosperous relationship for the rest of 2023. 

Key Judgment 3. China supporting Egypt in its counterterrorism efforts will likely continue the strong growth of their security partnership
