The Security Situation in Brazil: A 6-month Forecast

In recent months, the security situation in Brazil has worsened. This is mainly due to the increased activity of gangs and criminal groups, especially in the north of the country. During Bolsonaro’s presidency, crime went down, due to his tougher but controversial policies against criminals. However, many perceive Lula’s government to be more lenient. Nevertheless, the new government seems more inclined to fight crime by attacking it at its roots through social policies.
