There are several UK National Security reports that identify organised crime as a national security threat. Moreover, the United Kingdom has the ideal environment for organised crime to “flourish” (source). For 2023, it is clear that this “flourishment” is continuing to take place. The authorities of the UK are on high alert in order to combat organised criminal activity.

The more serious threats surrounding organised crime in the UK for 2023 include human trafficking, drug trafficking, and gang violence.

Key Judgment 1. It is highly likely that the UK’s focus on combating human trafficking in 2023, is due to its human trafficking crisis.

Key Judgment 2. For 2023, it is more than likely that the UK will be developing ways to disrupt criminals’ financial assets as a means to shut down drug trafficking activities.
