Israel-Congo Strategic Partnership: Diamonds are Forever

Israel-Congo relations have solidified in recent months. This has included an expansion of training and equipment to the DRC special forces also known as the Republican Guard. Israeli mining operations in the DRC have brought about tensions over the activity of Israeli diamond and copper mining magnate Dan Gertler in the violence-plagued state. In response to the October 7 Attacks in Israel, the Congolese government has been supportive and has denounced Hamas and the actions of Palestinian resistance organisations against Israel. With tensions surrounding government relations, the supply of arms and training and also the extraction of vital minerals and resources, Israel-Congo relations are set to develop along a tenuous path.
