Executive Summary
Since the Chinese-brokered ceasefire’s end in June, Myanmar’s resistance groups have advanced significantly, intensifying the conflict with the military junta and exacerbating the humanitarian situation. With much of the north now under their control, the Brotherhood Alliance is in a better position to project power into the centre of the country. This shift puts extra pressure on the junta and increases the likelihood of more intense combat as the dry season draws near. In parallel, conditions in Rakhine State remain dire, with blockades and ethnic violence exacerbating the humanitarian situation.
