Interpol’s Silver Notice: A New Milestone in Transnational Criminal Assets Recovery

Executive Summary

In January 2025, Interpol published the first Silver Notice, a new tool directed at identifying and recovering criminal assets across borders. This initiative represents a significant step towards addressing gaps in global financial crime enforcement. The tool, involving 52 countries in its pilot phase, shows promise in the enhancement of international cooperation on asset recovery. That said, challenges persist, particularly those of a jurisdictional and technological nature. The Silver Notice has strong potential to set new international standards regarding accountability and financial transparency, shaping global norms.
