Military build-up in Burkina Faso

Since the coup in January 2022, Burkina Faso’s interim government has been strengthening its military power. By diversifying its military partnerships, Captain Traoré aims to consolidate its power, while detaching himself from the West. However, this military build-up also led to increasing indiscriminate violence against civilians.
