MVID stated that Chinese espionage put Western governments, international organizations, and defence companies at risk. The revelation follows a 2023 hacking attack on the Dutch defence ministry. According to MVID, the hack has affected over 20,000 people worldwide. This development will likely strain Dutch-Chinese relations further and could have significant implications for post-election Europe. In light of these threats, MVID urges organizations to adopt the “Assume Breach” principle to enhance cybersecurity measures.
